“I had the pleasure of working with Carly on a very challenging new reality dating series for a major US broadcaster during the summer of 2013.  It was a very fast turnaround project, and Carly came on board at the early planning stages and offered advice regarding our location, as well as then pre-vetting all of the contractors we brought on board to ensure they were legally compliant, and safe for the production team of over 175 people, to use.

Once in production, Carly compiled a generic risk assessment for the general day to day goings on, as well as then more specific daily risk assessments in connection with the huge tasks we were asking our contributors to take part in. Throughout the 6 weeks on location, Carly offered the whole team amazing location support, attending every shoot both on and off site, as well as offering up suggestions to make sure we could do and film as many of the challenges as we were able, without hindering production or interfering in any way.

She was always cheerful and upbeat, and extremely efficient, despite the ridiculously long hours and very fast turnaround of each set up, and was genuinely a pleasure to have on board.  I look forward to working with her again in the near future.”

“It’s been an absolute delight working with Carly. She was placed as the series consultant on our Channel 4 magic show and was with us every step of the way offering invaluable advice. The magic ranged from small tricks to large stunts, but no matter what the trick or stunt, Carly helped us find a way to make to filming happen safely. It was never a “no” but always “how about this way...?” ! When you’re dealing with the usual demands of a production but with the added pressure of complex magic tricks, it is crucial to be able to seek advice and approval from someone you trust when it comes to health and safety and Carly provided that. I would not hesitate to hire her again, and would feel a sense of calm knowing that she was working on a production with challenging H&S issues.”

"Carly is the consummate media safety professional.  She is able to blend office made decisions with the legal requirements but in a supremely practical manner.  She genuinely facilitates rather than obstructs and clearly has a passion for her job but also the industry.  She is able to earn respect without demanding it and gain attention without being the centre of it.  On a personal note she is a pleasure to work with and quickly becomes an indispensible member of the team.  Can’t recommend her highly enough."

"I worked with Carly Gilbert when co-ordinating a high fall over a period of 2 days.  It was under extremely difficult circumstances and required every member of the crew to be 'hands on' with the preparation involved. Carly threw herself into the 'above and beyond the call of duty' role without hesitation and I found her to be very helpful and easy to work with on every level.  She is very pragmatic when it comes to sanctioning decisions made by the stunt co-ordinator on the inner workings of stunts, which is a great asset from my point of view and she worked closely with me in a very positive way. I look forward to working with her again in the future."

"I had the pleasure of working with Carly on a pilot for a new channel four series. We had explosions, special effects, pyrotechnics, stuntmen performing, blank firing weapons & a helicopter scene.

Carly has a great knowledge of health and safety and all legal matters & made my job as stunt coordinator a lot easier.

I would recommend her on any production as a great asset with the ability to communicate with all departments, & to assist in the safe completion of a project."

“Carly was extremely thorough and competent in producing all the relevant paperwork required including the Health and Safety Manual for both series. To ensure all members of production and crew knew the relevant risks from being on set and working within the disused and partially derelict building Carly gave briefings to the crew at the start of the production. Carly also produced a 1 page crib sheet which highlighted the main points of the manual to crew along with posters which were displayed in the relevant areas to warn people of dangers e.g. the marble stairs on the mezzanine were very slippery due to condensation. Carly was always on hand to offer advice and solutions to risks and had good ideas to make the set safer to film. These included putting a box over the point of view camera on the step which could hold the weight of a Player if they were to accidentally step on it when entering the main stage area of the vault. This solution ensured the equipment wouldn’t be damaged and the Player did not fall. It was little ideas like this which made Carly a popular member of the crew, she was always flexible in working alongside production to achieve our goals but in the safest way possible.”

“Cary Gilbert was employed by me at Smooth Operations (Productions) Ltd, in my capacity as TV Production Manager for the live coverage of Cambridge Folk Festival 2012 for Sky Arts. Amongst other things, the job involved building a new structure over water on a previously unused part of the festival site and in an environmentally sensitive area. We wanted specialist advice on this area in particular.

Carly was employed as our Health & Safety advisor for the build of the studio and our overall presence at the event. She wrote our Risk Assessment, organised pre-vet questionnaires with suppliers and contractors, provided telephone help and advice and attended site meetings.

I found Carly to be extremely knowledgeable about her subject and confident in her advice and recommendations. I was incredibly impressed with her ability to deal with people clearly and comprehensively and I found her advice and experience invaluable to the whole project. She had detailed knowledge of dealing with health & safety aspects of every aspect of our project, from the safety of both public and employees around our various structural builds to the safeguarding of the flora and fauna in the environment we were working in. She showed an insightful understanding of what we working towards achieving and thoroughly covered every aspect of the build and operation both before and during the event itself. I would not hesitate to recommend Carly as an extremely experienced and invaluable contributor to any project and look forward to working with her in the future.”

"Carly was a fantastic help on my project as it had to two things you're told not to work with in TV; Children & Animals. She came to location to check the safety of the set build, after writing the set build RA and wrote a comprehensive, easy to read RA with relevant and appropriate control measures for the series. The RA was quite extensive due to the nature of the show, so it helped that Carly was brilliant to work with and grasped all of the different areas that needed to be covered and suggested many procedures for us to follow to ensure the safety of our team and contributors. I couldn't recommend her enough!"

“Carly gives us daily health and safety consultation and advice for all tasks going into the house. From the development of tasks to testing, drafting of Risk Assessments to full sign off. Carly also advises on all Health and Safety aspects of the Big Brother Village and the Big Brother House itself (from fire routes to emergency procedures of both areas) during construction stage and continues once we are on air. Carly is always on hand to advise and steer tasks into a position that they are feasible and safe to carry out, despite the hour, day of the week or short notice of the tasks. Carly always has a positive approach to all tasks, despite how macabre some may be and all considerations are taken from staff safety to Housemate safety. She is extremely thorough when receiving task briefs and her extensive knowledge, interest and quick response aids and facilitates a large team in how tasks are prepared, scripted and run on the day.”

“Carly’s expertise was invaluable on location. She coordinated between production and stuntman to ensure all health and safety concerns were addressed before filming went ahead. She has an excellent appreciation for the difficulties of production on location and did everything she could to ensure that filming could still go ahead as planned, while accommodating her suggestions for H&S.”
